Euro area securities issues statistics: November 2019
- The annual growth rate of the outstanding amount of debt securities issued by euro area residents was 3.0% in November 2019, compared with 2.9% in October.
- For the outstanding amount of listed shares issued by euro area residents, the annual rate of change was -0.1% in November 2019, compared with -0.2% in October.
Debt securities
New issuance of debt securities by euro area residents totalled EUR 648.2 billion in November 2019. Redemptions amounted to EUR 556.5 billion and net issues to EUR 91.6 billion. The annual growth rate of outstanding debt securities issued by euro area residents was 3.0% in November 2019, compared with 2.9% in October.

Breakdown by maturity
The annual growth rate of outstanding short-term debt securities decreased from 5.1% in October 2019 to 4.1% in November. For long-term debt securities, the annual growth rate increased from 2.7% in October 2019 to 3.0% in November. The annual growth rate of outstanding fixed rate long-term debt securities was 3.7% in November 2019, compared with 3.5% in October. The annual rate of change of outstanding variable rate long-term debt securities was -2.0% in November 2019, compared with -2.5% in October.

As regards the sectoral breakdown, the annual growth rate of outstanding debt securities issued by non-financial corporations increased from 5.5% in October 2019 to 6.6% in November. For the monetary financial institutions (MFIs) sector, this growth rate was 4.0% in November 2019, compared with 4.1% in October. The annual growth rate of outstanding debt securities issued by financial corporations other than MFIs increased from 3.8% in October 2019 to 4.6% in November. For the general government, this growth rate was 1.3% in November 2019, compared with 1.5% in October.
The annual growth rate of outstanding short-term debt securities issued by MFIs decreased from 9.3% in October 2019 to 7.8% in November. The annual growth rate of outstanding long-term debt securities issued by MFIs was 3.5% in November 2019, compared with 3.3% in October.

Concerning the currency breakdown, the annual growth rate of outstanding euro-denominated debt securities was 3.2% in November 2019, compared with 3.3% in October. For debt securities in other currencies, this growth rate increased from 0.8% in October 2019 to 2.4% in November.

New issuance of listed shares by euro area residents totalled EUR 7.2 billion in November 2019. Redemptions amounted to EUR 7.5 billion and net redemptions to EUR 0.3 billion. The annual rate of change of the outstanding amount of listed shares issued by euro area residents (excluding valuation changes) was -0.1% in November 2019, compared with -0.2% in October. The annual rate of change of listed shares issued by non-financial corporations was -0.2% in November 2019, the same as in October. For MFIs, the corresponding rate of change was -0.1% in November 2019, the same as in October. For financial corporations other than MFIs, this rate of change was -0.1% in November 2019, compared with -0.2% in October.
Listed shares issued by euro area residents
The market value of the outstanding amount of listed shares issued by euro area residents totalled EUR 8,503.6 billion at the end of November 2019. Compared with EUR 7,475.1 billion at the end of November 2018, this represents an annual increase of 13.8% in the value of the stock of listed shares in November 2019, up from 9.4% in October.
