A guide to Eurosystem staff macroeconomic projection exercises

Experts from the ECB and the national central banks of the euro area have prepared a guide describing the way in which the Eurosystem staff macroeconomic projections for the euro area are currently produced. This follows the decision by the Governing Council of the European Central Bank (ECB) to publish on a biannual basis the Eurosystem staff macroeconomic projections for the euro area.
The guide includes:
- how the projections reflect the interaction between the ECB and the euro area national central banks;
- the main steps followed in their elaboration; and
- the tools used to derive them.
The first set of projections was published in the December 2000 issue of the ECB Monthly Bulletin. The next set will be published in the June 2001 issue of the ECB Monthly Bulletin.
